How We Review Online Casinos
PlayIndex uses a repeatable framework rather than ranking operators by promotional value alone. The demonstration scores show how the system works; they are not real operator assessments.
PlayIndex scoring weights
The data file controls every category and weight.
| Category | Weight | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Trust and verification | 25% | Operating company, licence scope, ownership, policy clarity, complaint routes and responsible gambling controls. |
| Payments and withdrawals | 22% | Method availability, CAD support, fee clarity, verification steps, limits and realistic processing ranges. |
| Games and information quality | 20% | Category depth, search, filters, provider information, game rules and the clarity of RTP-related information. |
| Mobile experience | 18% | Navigation, stability, cashier access, keyboard use, readable controls, performance and reduced-motion support. |
| Customer support | 15% | Channel availability, response quality, escalation, help content and access to account or safer-play assistance. |
Research workflow
The workflow begins with operator identity and eligibility, then moves through policy documents, account controls, cashier information, offer terms, game discovery, mobile testing and support.
Evidence notes are completed before scoring, and missing information lowers confidence rather than being filled with assumptions.
Weighted score
Trust and verification receive the highest weight, followed by payments, games, mobile experience and support. A severe issue in a core trust area can override the numeric total and prevent inclusion.
Category weights and definitions are controlled in the central data file.
Offer assessment
Offer size is not a standalone score category. PlayIndex reviews the clarity and practical conditions of an offer, including wagering base, multiplier, contribution, maximum bet, expiry and conversion limits.
A large promotion cannot compensate for unclear operator information or poor account controls.
Mobile and accessibility testing
Tests cover common screen sizes, keyboard navigation, visible focus, tap targets, forms, cashier access, support and reduced-motion behaviour. Horizontal overflow and overlays that block important controls are treated as defects.
Performance and layout stability are checked without relying on unnecessary third-party scripts.
Publication and update
A second editorial check confirms that the score, verdict, pros, cons and comparison fields agree. The page receives an update date and a list of unresolved verification items where applicable.
Material changes can lead to an amended score, ranking move or removal while facts are rechecked.
